5 Seconds Of Summer ROWYSO Tour - Newcastle! (Experience / Review)

Hey everybody!! It's been so long but I've been super busy with college, so I would like to apologise about that. I finish college in around two weeks time, so you'll all be seeing a lot more of me over the summer! Today, I would like to tell you all about the 5 Seconds Of Summer show I saw on Tuesday night, because the whole night was so special, and the lads put on such an amazing show...

My friend and I had booked these tickets as soon as they were released, and for the past year, we had been so excited to finally see this band live after waiting for a few years. The whole year seemed to be passing so slowly, but last week, the day finally arrived! Since we were stuck for a lift home, my dad kindly booked a hotel room for my friend and I to stay in, which was really handy for us since we had our college bags as well as our outfits and overnight essentials. If any of you need a cheap place to stay, I would definitely recommend the Travelodge, as they have rooms at low prices, their staff are so friendly and helpful, and they even have pizza to be delivered to your room! What more could you want?!

For the show, I wore a striped high neck vest top, a leather skirt and some chunky velvet shoes, along with some verrrrry cool sunglasses and some tights!

Top - Very
Skirt - River Island
Sunglasses - New Look

We got to the arena and we were actually very surprised when the support act began to perform on time (The acts usually so late and everybody gets a little agitated waiting for them). The support acts are an American band called Hey Violet, who have a kind of pop rock feel. This band were recently signed to Hi Or Hey Records by 5 Seconds Of Summer, and to be honest, I didn't really have high expectations of Hey Violet after reading through some of the comments about them on social media. However, they pleasantly surprised me, as they put on a great performance and really got the crowd going, which is difficult for bands aren't as well known. Their style of music isn't something I would usually choose to listen to, but they sounded great and were very edgy. They even put their own spin on Taylor Swift's Blank Space! All four members of the band are really talented and I love their quirky dress sense (and the drummer's VERY bright but cute hair!)

If you would like to check out Hey Violet, you can find their music and other videos on their YouTube channel!

Even before they came onto the stage, 5 Seconds Of Summer had the whole crowd chanting their name, and I knew we were all in for an amazing night. The intro song was End Up Here, which is one of my favourites off of their debut album, and their set lasted for around an hour and a half. Throughout the set, they sang a mixture of released songs, songs off of the album, older songs which are fan favourites, and even a new one named Permanent Vacation, which even included a little bit of crowd participation. The guys put their all into the show and made sure that we all had an unforgettable night, and even attempted a few (failed) Geordie accents! I'm so excited for anybody who is still yet to see them on tour!! It's still very strange that these four Australian guys I loved a few years back are now selling out arenas!

So after an amazing night and waiting nearly an hour for a taxi we finally got back to the Travelodge. We also thought about going to meet Pixie Lott, but we had no battery on our phones and we had college the next morning, so we thought that going back was probably the best option! Here are a few snaps of Gemma and I being a tad weird...

Gemma should also have a little vlog up soon on her YouTube channel, so when she uploads it, I'll link it in one of my future blog posts!

I hope you've all enjoyed reading this, and if you're going to see 5 Seconds Of Summer at one of their future shows, I hope you have the best night!! I'll be back later this week with my May Favourites so watch out for that! I hope you have a lovely week, even if it is Monday tomorrow!xx

Little Ways Of Keeping Stress Free..

Hello again beautifuls!! I hope you're all enjoying your week - even if you are bombarded with exams at the moment! This time last year I was struggling to keep up with revision and exams, as well as life outside of school, and I know I would have benefited from a few tips on how to reduce stress. If you're feeling the same way, hopefully I can rescue you!

Keeping stress free means keeping happy. This means that doing activities you enjoy will make a huge difference and will make your day 10x better! Some of the hobbies I have which I find are relaxing or fun include...

Sketchbooks - Not everybody has the time or patience to start doing a sketchbook, but for me I find it is a good way to take my mind off of things for a little while and pass the time. Right now, I am studying fashion retail at college so a lot of my work is displayed in sketchbooks. I love being able to draw, paint and use materials to make something look pretty, and make it my own. Looking back at a sketchbook when it's finished and won't fully close makes me feel really proud that I've put so much effort into something, and something that gives you a sense of achievement is worth doing!! When you have a little bit of spare time, get a book or even just a piece of paper, and build it up with drawings, photos and little bits of text. If you make it personal, it could really help you to release your thoughts and feelings!

Sorry for the low quality, but here is a photo of a page in my fashion design sketchbook!

Blogging - There is nothing I love doing more than getting stuck into writing and reading a good blog post! Being able to write about the things you love and sharing it with people with the same interests makes me happy, and again this gives me a sense of achievement! Blogging can take you out of your everyday life for an hour or so and allows you to focus on something else you enjoy. Reading other bloggers' posts or looking through their Instagram gives me a lot of inspiration and motivates me to get writing. If you haven't already, I would encourage you to set up a blog - it could be about absolutely anything!

Magazines - Vogue, Elle, Company - you name it! I love to sit down with a hot cuppa and read for hours. Sometimes, I like to rip little bits out of a magazine that I love and keep them to use in my sketchbook or to take inspiration from in my illustrations. Even cute pieces of text in a beautiful font will catch my eye, and I will cut them out to keep for later! Reading is a good way to relax, and if you're not a 'book person', magazines could be a good way of unwinding at any time of the day!

Phone calls - I'm not really a good speaker, but I really do love picking up the phone and having hour long chats with my friends or family members I haven't talked to for a while. If I'm having a bad day, I go up to my room and sit chatting to my friend Sophie for hours on end about anything and everything!! It really helps to share any problems you have, and your friends will probably have a good solution for them! I've been really happy this week, as my dad is finally home from Iraq, and I have finally been able to speak on the phone with him for a couple of hours, which has taken away so many worries I had!

Twitter - Although social media often doesn't relax you, I love logging into twitter and see what's happening with my online friends. I love messaging my twitter friends who live at the other end of country, or sometimes even in different countries! From twitter, I have made so many close friends, and I have plans to meet a few of the this summer, which I am super excited about!

Concerts and Gigs - I know you can't just turn up to a gig whenever you're having a bad night, but I love having concerts to look forward to! There is no better feeling than seeing the bands and artists you love and that influence you live - and possibly even meeting them! If I'm ever having a bad day, I will always look at my countdown and see that I only have a certain number of days until my next concert. My next concert is to see 5 Seconds Of Summer, and I am suuuuper excited!!

Exercise - I'm not very good at all when it comes to working out, but even just doing ten minutes of exercise will make you feel really good about yourself! I like to use the quick workout videos I can find on YouTube, and do one of those each night. It's only a small workout, but I can do it from the comfort of my own home without feeling judged, and I feel so proud of myself after I've done it. Exercising leaves you feeling motivated and determined.

It is also so important to keep organised, especially if you are in the middle of exams or have a load of work to get through. Take ten minutes out of your day to just sit down and make a list of task you need to complete and maybe even a list of the things which are worrying you. From here, I like to make a little timetable of when I'm going to complete each task (usually a piece of work) and then tick them off after I've done each one. This helps me to see how much I am getting done and motivates me to do more! If you write down your worries and problems, you can go through them, and realise that most (if not all) can be solved and aren't as big a deal as you originally thought they were!

Remember that if things are getting too much and the stress begins to get on top of you, you should tell somebody. It can really help to share your problems, as other people's words and advice can really put your mind at rest!

Thank you so much for reading, I hope this helped some of you a little bit! xx

Good luck to all of you who are currently doing exams - remember that your exam results aren't everything and they won't affect your life dramatically! As long as you try your hardest, that's all that matters, right?

If you ever need anybody to speak to, you can contact me and I will be hear to listen at all times...

April Favourites!!

Hellooooo!! Sorry I haven't really been active at all, but I've not had a very good week. I've let silly things get on top of me, and I haven't really been myself! Hopefully, next week will be a little better, but for now, I thought it would be nice to write about my April favourites, as these are the things that made me happy or made my life a little better last month! (It's a little late, I know, I'm sorry!!!) Please forgive me, as this months favourites post is a little short, since I haven't really had too much money to spare!

Fashion favourites

Black and white midi skirt - I purchased this skirt a while back, towards the end of last year. However, up until last month I didn't really feel comfortable wearing it, and I couldn't really find a good enough excuse to wear it! I love the pleating, as it makes the skirt a little more fun and girly to wear! This item was originally around £40, but I was delighted to find that it had been reduced to only £10 in Miss Selfridge!

Hair and beauty favourites

MUA Lilac Belle matte lipstick - Paired with a glittery eyeliner, this lipstick can create a super girly look, perfect for summery days or parties! I love how long this lipstick lasts, and as it's matte, it can be topped off with a clear lip gloss or lip balm to keep lips moisturied and plumper looking. I've spent months looking for a lilac lipstick which is of a good quality and doesn't break the bank, and I've finally found one!!

Orofluido hair oil - I recieved this hair oil as a gift which came with my Vogue subscription. Although at first, I was hesitant to try this product, I soon came to realise it is a huge help on a Wednesday morning when I am in a rush to catch the train and my hair doesn't want to do anything! I find that a lot of products irritate my scalp, and I get worried to use hair oils and serums, as a lot of them can leave my hair looking too oily. This oil however, prevents any frizz and calms static hair, leaving it looking smooth and healthy! This product also came with a mascara, which gives a natural looking boost to your lashes, and a shampoo.

Real techniques miracle complexion sponge - Okay, so I know I'm very behind on this, but I have recently purchased this sponge and fallen in love with it! I love anything Real Techniques, so I'm not quite sure why I'm so late making this purchase. I think it's because I had so much love for my Elf stippling brush (which is also great!). I find that using this sponge is great for even coverage, and spreads the product out evenly, leaving you with a lovely, natural look. The flat base and pointy tip mean that the product can be used for the smaller areas where concealer is used, as well as all over the face. This can be picked up in stores such as boots and superdrug for a very low price!!

Other favourites

Nathan Sykes - I've been a fan of The Wanted for five years now, and with the lads taking a break a little over a year ago, I've been excited to hear new solo material! Last month, Nathan Sykes (the baby of the band), embarked on his first solo UK tour, and announced that he would be releasing his debut single and album soon! His Newcastle gig gave us all a little sneak peak of what's to come, and his vocals blew me away! Make sure to check out his debut single, Kiss Me Quick!

The Dolls - I'm not really a huge reader, but I recently became a reviewer for Maximum Pop magazine, and I reviewed The Dolls by Kiki Sullivan. If you love anything girly, dark and mysterious with a little bit of romance (Think AHS Coven and Pretty Little Liars), this is the book for you! The plot follows a teen named Eveny and her quest to figure out the secrets and lies behind the town of Carrefour.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed my favourites for last month. Be sure to leave a comment and tell me what you're loving at the moment. I'll be back again this weekend with a new post, so be sure to follow me and keep an eye out for that!!

Free Rewards - UNiDAYS & CovetMe!!

Hello everybody!! First of all, I would like to apologise for being so quiet and inactive over the past week! I've been so busy with college work and I've used so much of time searching for a job! Thankfully, my course is almost over until after the summer and I will soon have a job, which excites me as it means I can buy more clothes!!

I have been working on a much longer blog post, but I'm only halfway through it, as I want to take my time with it and make it the best I possibly can! It includes a lot of links to different stores and products, so finding the best prices for a lot of items is proving to be time consuming! Hopefully, this post should be up by the end of the week, and it should get you all in a summery mood! For now though, I wanted to let you all know about a couple of websites I have stumbled across, thanks to some other bloggers and vloggers!

UNiDAYS

I came across this website thanks to one of my favourite youtubers, Emily-Victoria Canham. UNiDAYS is a brilliant site (also an app!) which allows you to get discount off products in the majority of your favourite stores!

If you live or study in the UK (school, college or university), you can sign up for free, and the discounts are immediately available to you. Discounts are available in stores such as Topshop, Boohoo, ASOS, New Look, Miss Selfridge and many more!!

If that isn't enough, when you refer your friends, you earn rewards, which amount up to gift vouchers. For every friend you refer, you earn 50p, and that can soon add up to your first reward, which is £10!
The discounts can be used both online and in store!

If used online, you will be given a code to redeem the discount.

If used in store, you simply need to show your ID (a photo of yourself on your UNiDAYS profile) to the cashier on the till.

If you would like to sign up, the link is here!!

CovetMe

I'm very new to this site, as I only found out about it and signed up today! From what I've seen, it looks like a wonderful website for bloggers and companies, as it allows members to collect rewards and for companies to get the recognition they deserve!

To collect points, all you have to do is share the link to a product you love onto your different social network platforms, and get people to click on the links (this relies on hashtags a lot).

You can also refer your friends to the site via email. Once they have signed up, you earn 50 points! Different rewards consisting of different vouchers and products can be earned when points are collected! As well as earning rewards, you can also be introduced to new designers and brands, and maybe even find a few items you love!

For an invite to this site, comment your email below or contact me via twitter, instagram, or gmail! I will then email you a referral link, which will get you started!

Thank you for reading! I hope you found this post useful, and you can benefit from both sites in some way. I'll hopefully be back later on in the week, with a longer, more summery post! Until then, enjoy the rest of your week and you can keep in touch with me!!

17 Going On 7...

Hello again! I hope you're all having a great Monday - sounds crazy, I know!!

Recently, I've been completely obsessed with wearing my hair in bunches and mini double buns, and it's reminded me of my younger days when I was carefree about everything - including my hair! Jump to the embarrassing photo of my cousin and I rocking the bunches as she attempts to strangle me...

We all know that sometimes letting your hair down isn't the best move, especially when your hair looks something like this...

When you're frantically rushing about the house with five minutes to spare before catching the bus, straightening or putting your hair into a braid just isn't a option! I had this exact problem only a couple of weeks ago, meaning I had little choice but to just tie my hair back. Tired of wearing the usual simple ponytail, tied using a scrunchie, I decided to opt for a double version and change it up a lil bit!

It only takes two minutes to section your hair down the middle and down the back of your scalp, before tying both sections up. From here, you can tie them with elastics or scrunchies and add cute accessories from ribbons to flowers. Anything goes! If I have time, I also love to take it one step further and turn the bunches into double buns, using bobby pins (hair grips) and hairspray to secure them into place. I absolutely love the Miley inspired look, and it looks even better  finished with a sprinkle of glitter and some small braids running through them!

Thank you for reading!! Let me know what your favourite go-to hairstyle is, as I would love to have some new styles to try out! Enjoy the rest of your Monday xx

***** Also, one of my favourite people, Tyler Wilson, recently launched his own online clothing store which features his own designs! You should all go check that out, because it's pretty cool and I'm very proud of him! Here is the link to the store and the twitter...

You should also check out his band, 'Hollywood Ending', because they're pretty cool too!!

Coachella 2015 Style Round-Up!!

Coachella - one of America's biggest music festivals - recently landed in Indio, CA once again and caused a social media storm, as celebrity fashion icons from all over the world fled to the warm weather to be a part of the Coachella hype! Famous faces included Paris Hilton, the Jenner sisters and Alli Simpson, all of whom took full advantage of the desert weather and unleashed their inner hippy. As a fan of the boho, carefree style, I find myself getting super excited and slightly jealous when this time of the year comes around!!

This year, I found myself having real hair envy!! Usually, I focus on the amazing outfits which have been put together, but being a huge fan of any type of braid, I ended up swooning for some of the beautiful hairstyles which were pulled off by so many of the Coachella girls. A few celebs made some drastic changes to their hairstyles for the festival too. These included reality star, Kylie Jenner and fashion model Jourdan Dunn, who went all out with blues, grey and purple!
The flower crowns were ditched (almost) and were replaced with oversized floppy hats, which made me soooooo happy!

Although the girls of Coachella looked stunning, we can't forget about the boys! Stars such as Cody Simpson, Will.I.Am and Joe Sugg impressed us with their Coachella fashion and showed us how to do Coachella the right way! Cody Simpson paired up with his model girlfriend Gigi Hadid and brought along his sister Alli to join in on the experience! The group were my personal favourites from this year's event!

For several years, Vanessa Hudgens has been the reigning queen of Coachella style. However, not being able to attend this year, she is now in some serious competition with some other fashionistas, from Kendall Jenner to Fergie!
My favourite looks from Coachella 2015 include Alexa Chung's simple frock and Haim's 70s sunglasses. Fringing on dresses and crochet bralets also caught my attention and I hope to be seeing plenty more of those this summer!!

That's all for this post, I hope you enjoyed reading! If you did, make sure to leave a little comment. I would also love to know who you thought was this year's best and worst dressed!xx

Nathan Sykes Tour - Newcastle ♫♪

Hi again!! Most people reading this will probably know me from Twitter. If this is the case, then you will know that for the past five years I have been a fan of The Wanted - as well as a lot of other bands! On Thursday, I went along to Nathan Sykes' first ever solo tour and thought that it would be a good idea to write a blog post about it! If you want to hear a little bit about the show, see a couple of vids and hear some tips about trying to meet him, feel free to read on...

Living in Darlington, my two friends and I thought it would be a good idea to catch an early train to Newcastle, which got us there for 10am with the hope of finally meeting Nathan. When we first arrived, there weren't too many people waiting and everybody was stood in their own little groups. However, by lunchtime, this had all changed and when the word spread about Nathan being in his hotel (which was just opposite the academy), the majority of fans stood at the back of the academy to try and meet him.

After waiting at the back of the academy for a few hours, we decided to move to the front to check the length of the queue. This is when we saw a huuuuge group of fans surrounding Nathan further down the street. Even though he was being pushed and screamed at, he still took time to take photos with as many people as he could before going back into the venue. Because we were towards the back of the group, we didn't get to speak to Nathan, so we decided to try again...

The next time, Nathan came out of the back venue doors, and it soon became chaos! Nathan was surrounded by people and everybody was pushing and shoving. I was so close to properly meeting Nathan here, but people who already had photos went back for more (in my opinion that is pretty selfish, but congrats on meeting him). After speaking to his mum on the phone, he was then being waved at by a naked old man in a hotel window, and his reaction was hilarious! He kept covering his mouth with his hands and asking if he could get arrested for it, which had us all laughing.

After soundcheck, Nathan then came out of the front doors again and took photos with so many people! Although I didn't get a photo, I was part of a video message which we all did, which is supposed to be on his tour diary, so watch out for that!!

By the end of the afternoon, there was only around 20 of us waiting for Nathan around the back of the venue, as everybody else was watching the support act inside. This was when Nathan decided to wave at us and bang on his window to get our attention. Although we were originally told Nathan was going to come out and see us, we were later told that he had to go straight on stage. As he walked past us, he said a quick hello and I tried to give him a card which I had put together, along with some other people on Twitter. He looked at me and said sorry before walking away, telling us that he would be out after the show, although that didn't happen, as he was mobbed and had to be taken away straight away!

Soon after we got inside of the venue, Nathan came on stage and sang through his set, along with his band. The whole set was amazing and the songs really showed off Nathan's voice! The set was only around 40 minutes long and there were only a few songs we knew, but Nathan managed to keep the crowd going and the whole night was amazing!

Here is the setlist...

  • Twist
  • Freedom
  • Rolling In The Deep (Adele cover)
  • Over & Over again
  • Famous
  • More Than You'll Ever Know
  • Money Kiss Me Quick
Here are some videos I recorded! Sorry about the low quality...

Over & Over Again

Famous
After waiting all day, I would say that the best way to meet Nathan is to not push, form queues and give him space! It will work out better for you and Nathan and is so much safer and fairer! Good luck to anybody trying to meet him, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of his tour! Thank you for reading! Leave a comment if you're going or you've been!

Welcome To My Blog!!

Hello, and welcome to my new blog!!

In the past, I've had a couple of blogs based on fashion only, but found myself losing interest in them almost straight away. This was mainly because I was struggling with ideas on what to write about, which meant that I was writing less and less over time.

After deciding to delete my old blogs, I thought that I would give this one a go! This blog will focus on everything from fashion and beauty tips to reviews and posts about my everyday life. I am currently a fashion retail student and I enjoy experimenting with new makeup, going to gigs and doing anything arty- so expect a lot of this in my blog!

Thank you for reading, and if you have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment!
